Project Description
After the success of the Red Bull Streetstyle awards, we were asked to produce a trophy for a new Netball tournament; Red Bull Switch Up. The brief was to produce a trophy that clearly defined the sport and conveyed movement, the rest was up to us!
Design / Construction
Key elements of the trophy were the post, and also the pattern on the ball. This would define the sport as netball as opposed to basketball. The ball was sculpted and cold cast with polyester resin and aluminium powder. This gave the effect of solid metal and also the weight. The logo, ‘net’ section, and also the ring were laser cut acrylic and brought gloss and colour to the trophy. Furthermore, a piece of solid chestnut provided the base with anodised aluminium for the plaque.
Winners
Congratulations to the University of Manchester for defeating their cross city rivals in the final. They took home the trophy and also the title of inaugural Red Bull Switch Up Champions!
